Dave Z Photography

The Yorkshire Lens

Hi, I’m Dave — photographer and author with a passion for capturing the beauty and character of Yorkshire.

My published works include Yorkshire in Photographs, More Yorkshire in Photographs, Yorkshire Revealed, Bradford in Photographs, and Villages of Yorkshire.

I’m currently working on my latest project, Haworth in Photographs, exploring the charm and history of this iconic village through my lens.

Alongside my landscape work, I specialise in property photography, product photography, and drone imaging. From beautifully presented interiors and commercial spaces to detailed product visuals and sweeping aerial perspectives, I bring every subject to life with creativity, precision, and an eye for telling its story from every angle. As a fully insured drone pilot with an A2 CofC licence, I’m able to capture elevated views and dynamic footage that add depth and impact to any project.

"Dave provided us with some fantastic images of our beach huts & apartments. Great to have such good digital content that not only helps promote my business but also showcases the wider surrounding area of St Annes magnificently."

I’ve been following Dave’s photography for many years, and it is my absolute pleasure to write the foreword to this book — a culmination of his best work.

Dave’s photos take me straight back to my childhood growing up in the North of England and visiting some of these wonderful places most weekends in one of my favourite parts of Britain — Yorkshire. That feeling of climbing the 199 steps in Whitby, holding hands with my nana and grandad, getting to the top and looking back onto the sensational view — Dave has the ability to not only capture its reality and beauty, but also the mood, evoking real emotion in each picture.

Dave is Yorkshire born and bred, and we’re lucky to be able to feel his connection with the landscape in every shot. I often find myself wondering what took place here — just how many memories have been created in those landscapes? The colours are dreamy, the perspective is perfect, but it’s the story in each photo that grabs me every time.

So many people looking through these images will, like me, be taken straight to a memory, while others will be inspired to visit this stunning part of the world, to make new memories and experience the magic of Yorkshire for themselves.

These beautiful photos are happy and warm, reminding us all of how wonderful the world can be. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

"Dave was superb. In fact, he really captured the essence of our centre. He listened to the brief but added his own style and flair. If he wasn't sure, he went for it anyway, which we liked. Images are sharp, deep and look great digital or in print. Good value and his social following is a bonus. Recommended!"

Dave’s photography takes me right back to a feeling.

It’s a warm hug on a chilly Sunday evening, after a big hike through the Yorkshire Dales.

It’s the twinkling of nostalgia in your tummy as you walk the old streets of Haworth, looking up in awe of the history.

It’s the moment you take a friend to visit the Shambles for the first time, and you see their face light up as they bustle through the crowd of tourists

who have come to admire it’s beauty.

It’s the feeling of familiarity that he captures so well. His photography makes me feel safe, because it is a beautifully captured collection of the places

my favourite memories have been made. The photographs silently tell so

many stories.
